Fight Online Abuse Now
CAMPAIGN:
Sick of This S#!T - Fight Online Abuse Now
GOAL OF CREATIVE:
To illuminate harmful misconceptions about online abuse and highlight PEN America’s report findings.
CHALLENGES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
Creative development required a nuanced approach to sensitive topics and important messaging that needed to be distilled into short, PSA-style creative assets that PEN America and a coalition of organizations fighting online abuse could use online. The campaign shared important resources and amplified the stories of writers, journalists, and other users who face online abuse.
CAMPAIGN:
What to Expect When You’re Electing
GOAL OF CREATIVE:
To educate U.S. voters on essential media literacy skills that combat disinformation and misinformation online using bite-sized lessons, quizzes, and interviews amplified on Facebook and Instagram with the support of Meta as a campaign partner.
CHALLENGES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
PEN America launched What to Expect When You’re Electing, a national initiative aimed at inoculating voters against disinformation, by ensuring that people know what they can anticipate in an election season like no other. My team and I worked closely with Meta, as well as a team of animators and designers, to build and distribute platform-specific content that drew on PEN America’s expertise and the influential strength of our A-list authors in spreading the message.
CAMPAIGN:
“We Will Emerge” - Essays of Hope and Reflection During COVID-19
GOAL OF CREATIVE:
To visually categorize and express key themes of “We Will Emerge” essays for PEN America’s website, PR, and social media use.
CHALLENGES AND HIGHLIGHTS:
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, PEN America commissioned a collection of 111 short essays from writers and actors, politicians and reporters, artists and poets, together urging readers to imagine a future beyond the current crises. My team and I were deeply involved in the curation and presentation of these essays across PEN America’s digital platforms, as well as securing an exclusive launch with The Washington Post.
